Wigan Galleries shopping centre to make way for new retail, residential and leisure facilities

Client: City Heart Ltd

Ecological Services undertaken: Daytime Bat Survey, Extended Phase 1 Habitat Survey

Rachel Hacking Ecology completed a survey of entire Wigan Galleries shopping centre in March 2021, including a daytime bat assessment of the building and an Extended Phase 1 Habitat Survey of the site.

The existing shopping centre, constructed in the 1980’s, is to make way for a large, new retail, residential and leisure facility, including a bowling alley and assorted restaurants.

The surveys included the monitoring of the Raven’s nest, situated in the clock tower at the heart of the Wigan Market.
